F/m Investments has launched mutual fund shares of one of its ETFs, the first dual-shares product on the market. The new structure is now available to investors, but it faces similar sales challenges as those raised by ETFs. According to George Wilbanks, “Because ETF shares trade on exchanges, it’s difficult for custodians to track exactly who bought them, an issue that has plagued the fund industry for years, [even slowing the adoption of active ETFS]…You need some way to track success.”
