Great reporting by Ben Miller on a facet of diversity, equity and inclusion that we find is often overlooked, as well as citing specific actions firms can take on the inclusion front to empower differently-abled employees to thrive. According to CDC definitions and surveys, disabilities affect almost 25% of adults in communities in the US. Inclusion is about more than simple encouragement, firms must ensure that policies and engagement practices are effective and all employees are valued for their diverse and varied strengths. Additionally companies with strong disability inclusion programs have better access to talent and better employee retention. We have found organizations such as Disability:IN to be great resources on this front.
